The unemployment rate in Indonesia declined to 5.32 percent in the September quarter of 2023 from 5.86 percent in the same quarter the previous, pointing to the lowest figure since Q1 2020. The number of unemployed persons dropped by 6.77 percent from a year earlier to 7.86 million. At the same time, the number of employed grew by 3.77 percent to 139.85 million, mostly in food accommodation & beverages, construction, and agriculture. Meanwhile, the labor force participation rate was up to 69.48 percent from 68.66 percent in the prior year.
