Sri Lanka's key inflation rate edged up to 1.5% in September 2023 from an eight-year low of 1.3% in the previous month. Main upward pressure came from non-food items (4.9% vs 4.7% in August), notably in housing & utilities (11.5% vs 9.7%) and transport (-6.1% vs -9%). Meanwhile, deflation was unchanged for food (-5.2%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices tumbled 0.2% in September 2023 from a 0.9% increase in the previous month.
