Romania PMI Industriale

The BCR Romania Manufacturing PMI increased to 48.1 in October 2024, up from 47.3 in the previous month. While it remained contractionary for the fourth consecutive period, this figure indicates a slight improvement in operating conditions. There were slower rates of decline in both production and new orders, but demand still remained muted. Employment also continued to fall, marking the fifth month of workforce reduction, although the decrease was marginal. On the price front, cost pressures heightened in October, with rising raw materials and wage costs contributing to increased input price inflation. Some of these higher costs were passed on to customers, pushing output charge inflation to its steepest level since February. Finally, despite the challenging environment, manufacturers remained optimistic, driven by marketing efforts, potential new customers, and expansion plans.
